Irish Galway Crystal 11.5 inch Open Decanter

PRESENTING A LOVELY Irish Galway Crystal 11.5 inch Open Decanter.

Quite RARE!

Swan neck design, which tells us it was a ‘decanter’ .. rather than a ‘vase’.

Made in Ireland circa 1980, by the desirable Galway Crystal company on the West Coast of Ireland.

Cross-cut and fluted design on the lower half.

Unlike Waterford pieces, most earlier Galway pieces were not marked or etched with the makers name. This one is one of those! It has a serial number etched on the base but we cannot decipher it!

We know it is a ‘Galway’ piece because (1) it was bought by my mother in Ireland (who loved Galway pieces) and (2) Galway Crystal pieces are known for being ‘heavier’ and ‘thicker’ than even Waterford.

This is a heavy and thick crystal …. unmistakably, Galway!

Would be used as a ‘Wine Decanter’ for everyday use, hence, the lack of any form of lid.

We cannot find another one like it on the marketplace!
