PRESENTING AN EXTREMELY RARE FIRST EDITION AND SIGNED hardback copy of ‘The History of Muhlenberg County’ by Otto A. Rothert from 1913.
This RARE book is in very good condition for its age, with only some very minor ‘knicks’ on the edges of the hardcover.
THIS BOOK IS A SIGNED FIRST EDITION
It was Dedicated: “To Thomas H. Obenchain with best wishes of Otto. A. Rothert. Gainsville, Kentucky March 29, 1916”.
AS AN ADDED BONUS, the Book comes with an ORIGINAL LETTER from the author (Otto A. Rothert), on ‘The Filson Club’ headed notepaper, to Eliza Calvert Hall (Obenchain) (mother of Thomas Obenchain) and dated December 18, 1922, to whom Mr. Rothert addresses as “My Dear Aunt Jane” as a result of Eliza’s famous novel – ‘Aunt Jane of Kentucky’.
This book was part of the extensive private collection and Estate of the Calvert Hall/Obenchain Collection formerly of Bowling Green, KY and later, Highland Park, Texas.
AS you can see from the history of this Collection, the family have very strong ancestral ties to the State of Kentucky & Virginia.

Muhlenberg County (/ˈmjuːlənbɜːrɡ/) is a county located in the U.S. Commonwealth of Kentucky. As of the 2010 census, the population was 31,499. Its county seat is Greenville. The county was founded in 1798 and named for General Peter Muhlenberg, a colonial general during the American Revolutionary War.
Muhlenberg County was established in 1798 from land given by Logan and Christian counties. Muhlenberg was the 34th Kentucky county in order of formation.
