Set of 8 Vintage Bohemian 24kt Gold & Platinum Incrusted Wall Plaques & 3 Bon Bon Dishes
PRESENTING a VERY ATTRACTIVE and visually impressive Set of 8 Vintage Bohemian 24kt Gold & Platinum Incrusted Wall Plaques & 3 Bon Bon Dishes/Bowls.
Made by Victoria in Czechoslovakia (Bohemia) in the mid 20C, circa 1940-60.
Each piece is covered in 24kt gold leaf with floral design.
The central section, separating the rim and base designs, consists of a jade green colored ring with floral gold elements.
The base section has a central disc medallion of platinum leaf with a scene of a gentleman and lady in 18C attire courting under a tree.
All fully marked.
The Set consists of 11 Pieces:
2 x 10 inch diameter plates/plaques
6 x 8.75 inch diameter plates/plaques
(Each of these plaques, is individually mounted on a brass spring wall plaque hanger)
3 x 5.5 inch diameter Bon Bon or Condiment Dishes
All are fully matching, save 1 of the Bon Bon or Condiment Dishes which is very slightly different by virtue of not being entirely incrusted in 24kt gold leaf like the others. We are of the opinion, that this dish is possibly a later replacement.
“Victoria Czechoslovakia” refers to a china factory, Porzellanfabrik Victoria Schmidt & Co., located in Stara Role, Czechoslovakia (now part of the Czech Republic). The company was originally founded in 1883 in Altrohlau, which later became Stara Role after Bohemia’s separation from Austria and incorporation into Czechoslovakia. The factory is known for producing high-quality porcelain, including Art Deco styles, and the company’s name and marks evolved over time to reflect its history and location.
The ‘marks’ on these items were from 1930 onwards.
