PRESENTING A GORGEOUS 18C Swedish Hand Painted Pine Cabinet or Cupboard.

This piece would have been made in Sweden/Scandinavia circa 1780/90.

Made entirely of pitch pine, which has then been hand-painted with a sage green base and then hand-painted floral bouquets on the pelmet/crown, the top section door, the center drawer and the base section door.

Constructed using hand made iron nails and rivets and it still retains it’s original iron door straps, locks, hinges and keys.

The piece is in superb condition considering it’s age and purpose. Also the wood used, namely pine, can often badly deteriorate if not properly maintained or subjected to extreme conditions such as excess moisture and heat.

The base sage green paint is still visible and the natural patination gives it a glorious color.

The hand-painted floral bouquets are still quite vibrant (if a little, faded through age) and unlike some similar pieces have NOT been re-painted.

The iron hardware (rivets, keyhole covers, hinges, locks, keys and door straps are ALL original to the piece and are ‘unmistakably’ 18th Century in date. The oxidization to the iron is, likewise, further evidence of genuine age.

The crown/pelmet is removeable.

The top section door opens to reveal 2 shelving areas for storage. The central drawer has an iron door pull handle and pulls outwards. Underneath the drawer is a frontal shelf/mantel.

The base section door opens to reveal 2 shelving areas for storage.

A pair of inset panels with molded edges flanks either side of the front.

The piece sits on a molded base board platform.

On one side of the cabinet (left) there is an iron loop hook, for either hanging something or possibly for securing the piece for transport.

THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN BROUGHT OVER TO THE US, BY A SWEDISH IMMIGRANT, PROBABLY IN THE LATE 18th or VERY EARLY 19th CENTURY AND HAS BEEN CLEARLY ‘LOVED’ BY THEIR DESCENDANT’S EVER SINCE!
