This piece is an Antique piece….probably circa 1890 – 1900 ……. The Art Nouveau Period.

It is a CLASSIC ART NOUVEAU style, shape and form  !!

Art Nouveau (French pronunciation: [aʁ nuvo], Anglicised to /ˈɑːrt nˈv/) is an international style of art, architecture and applied art, especially the decorative arts, that was most popular between 1890 and 1910.[1] A reaction to the academic art of the 19th century, it was inspired by natural forms and structures, not only in flowers and plants, but also in curved lines.

English uses the French name Art Nouveau ("new art"), but the style has many different names in other languages: in Austria it is known as Secessionsstil after Wiener Secession, in Spanish Modernismo, in Catalan Modernisme, in Czech Secese, in Danish Skønvirke or Jugendstil, in Germany Jugendstil, Art nouveau or Reformstil, in Hungarian Szecesszió, in Italian L'Art Nouveau, Stile floreale or Stile Liberty, in Norwegian Jugendstil, in Polish Secesja, in Slovak Secesia, in Russian Модерн (Modern), and in Swedish Jugend.

Art Nouveau is considered a "total" art style, embracing architecture, graphic art, interior design, and most of the decorative arts including jewellery, furniture, textiles, household silver and other utensils, and lighting, as well as the fine arts. According to the philosophy of the style, art should be a way of life. For many well-off Europeans, it was possible to live in an art nouveau-inspired house with art nouveau furniture, silverware, fabrics, ceramics including tableware, jewellery, cigarette cases, etc. Artists desired to combine the fine arts and applied arts, even for utilitarian objects.

Although Art Nouveau was replaced by 20th-century Modernist styles,[2] it is now considered as an important transition between the eclectic historic revival styles of the 19th century and Modernism.[

It does not bear a makers mark but was UNDOUBTEDLY made by one of the very best jewelers of the time.

We think it is possibly French.

It is marked for 18k yellow gold.

The pendant is curtain shaped and SUBSTANTIAL in size.

The curtain portion of the necklace is profusely set with 'old-cut' brilliant diamonds in a floral or garland/vine type motif.  It is surrounded with individually set 'old cut' diamonds.

The Pendant has 2 layers..... the first consists of a smaller circle within a circle setting with a singular ruby inset between brilliant 'old cut' white diamonds........below it hangs a floral design inset with brilliant diamonds.

The first layer is attached to the second layer of the pendant by two chains of 18k gold fully inset with old cut coboshon brilliant white diamonds.

The main pendant is in a demi-lune shape with a curtain type tassle flowing base (10 Tassles) with 27 individually set rubies (YES....27 Rubies) entirely surrounded with brilliant old cut white diamonds of EXCEPTIONAL BRILLIANCE AND QUALITY in plume and floral motifs on the demi-lune portion.

The chain is pure 18k gold.

Only the extremely affluent could have afforded this is good enough to grace the neck of the most famous of actresses at the Oscars or Royalty !
