The front has the name 'Tena" under the escutcheon.

The box is heavily decorated with various flags, crests and emblems..........mostly South American....Honduras etc.

This Box has really raised our curiosity !!!

At first we thought it simply Spanish......there is a Town called Tena in Spain, also.........but upon closer examination of the emblems we noticed one specifically refers to Honduras.

We could not find a Town called Tena in Honduras.....but there is a famous Town in Ecuador called Tena.

Suddenly we realized that 'Tena' was not the name of a Town....but a family name .......the Emblem above it......2 hands holding a rose.....is a symbol of love and marriage......so this box was probably made to commemorate a wedding into the Family 'Tena'.........with the various crests and emblems signifying the ancestry and possibly travels of the newly weds !!!

The front has a monogrammed silver label.....we think it says " P & T".

The domed lid has a 2 headed eagle with crown as its central motif.................this is the Toledo, Spain Crest.
